Top Ten Tuesday - Bookish Goals For 2025

Top-Ten-Tuesday

Welcome to another Top Ten Tuesday. Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme hosted by that artsy reader girl since 2018. It was born of a love of lists and the desire to bring book lovers together. This week's topic is bookish goals for 2025. I'm not sure whether I'll make it to ten, but we'll see.

This week's topic: Bookish Goals For 2025

1. Reading 40 Books

Most of you will be thinking "That's it?" and seeing people read hundreds of books in a year, my goal seems small in comparison. However, I don't buy a lot of books, I don't borrow from the library (yet), and I'm more of a re-reader so this goal is challenging. I hope to read 40 books but who knows how many I'll actually be reading ;)

2. Reading Outside My Comfort Zone

As you may have gathered already, I mainly read fantasy and mystery books. However, I want to try branching out a bit more this year and try some historical fiction or contemporary books too.

3. Reading More Audiobooks

I think I heard only one audiobook last year. I'm new to listening to them, but it's a completely different experience than reading a physical book. I wasn't able to do other tasks while I was listening because I was trying to pay attention, but this year I hope I'll have read enough audiobooks to be able to multitask a bit.

4. Reading Classics

So, I love classics but I tend to re-read my favorites rather than try new ones. This year there are some classics I want to try my best to finish. A Christmas Carol, A Little Princess, Wuthering Heights, Great Expectations, and The Wind in the Willows are high on this list.

5. Reading and Reviewing Webtoons and Manhwa

So, I tried reading and reviewing webtoons last year, but I only managed to review one. I'm definitely going to be reviewing more of them this year. I'm going to start reviewing manga too. Hopefully, I'll do a better job this time.

6. Make More Posts on Instagram and Pinterest

I've honestly gotten awful at posting on any other site than X or Bluesky, but I'm going to try my best to make more pins and posts on Pinterest and Instagram too. I have a lot of pins that have been piling up, but I've become pretty lazy when it comes to posting them. I'm going to try to be more active this year.

7.  Visiting More Used Book-Stores

Even though there are a lot more used-book stores in my city than I expected, I've hardly gone to any of them. I used to buy a few second-hand books from a stall in one of the nearby malls. Sadly, that stall isn't there anymore but I'm going to try to visit at least one of the other spots this year.

8. Look into SEO and Getting on Google

I'm awful at technical things, so getting on to Google has been a struggle. I keep getting redirect errors in the Google search console and I have no idea what I should be doing differently. So this year I'm going to do a lot more research and try to resolve the issue. If anyone uses Blogger and has had some success in getting their posts on Google, I'd love some wisdom and tips :)

So, I wasn't able to reach 10 goals but maybe I'll think up some more as time goes on. Thanks for visiting my blog!

  3. Great goals! I was thinking of doing the Out of My Comfort Zone Challenge that a fellow book blogger hosts but I already have so many challenges on my list I'm not sure I should squeeze another one it. But it is a great goal and I hope you discover awesome new books you wouldn't have otherwise :) Happy reading!

  5. A tip that may work for you and audiobooks, is to try rereading a favorite book using the audio version. You've read the story before, so you don't need to pay as close attention. Some of my favorite audiobooks have been low stakes ones, where if I miss a few minutes I'm not lost the rest of the story. Good luck!

  6. Great goals! Regarding SEO, I think the problem lies in Blogger and not in you. Google Analytics only works on self-hosted blogs, so this might be the issue :) At least, I assume you want to use Google Analytics for your stats? SEO also works best with a plugin, but these only work on self-hosted blogs as well.

  8. Good luck with your goals. I've hardly read any classics but A Little Princess is one of the ones I want to pick up most. Great Expectations is one of the ones I've read but it was for school and I only read one book at a time so I was kind of impatient to get back to my own books after a while. I was enjoying it initially though and if I'd picked it up by choice it probably would have worked better for me.

Audiobooks are something I need to get into as well.

Great goals, they seem well thought out and sensible. I hope you can find a good place to pick up some used books

  11. I read A LITTLE PRINCESS last year and loved it! I also reread A CHRISTMAS CAROL every December to get me in the mood for the holidays. It's a quick read and a great one. I hope you love all the classics you read. Good luck on all your goals.

    Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!

  12. We just moved and I DEFINITELY need to find where all the used bookstores are! I've gone to a few thrift stores with decent book selections, but I need something that's book specific. :)

  13. Having multiple used bookstores in your area is a wonderful blessing. Good luck on that goal in particular - goals that double as activities/entertainment are the best. (which... I guess is arguably MOST goals pertaining to reading... but I guess in terms of being a physically engaging one)
