Top Ten Tuesday: Books with Swords on the Cover

Welcome back to another Top Ten Tuesday. Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl since 2018. This week's topic is one I've been pretty excited about. Books with [item] on the cover, where we can choose whatever item we want. I love sword fights in books and movies so I thought it would be perfect to list ten books (some which I've read and others which are on my TBR) where there is a sword on the cover.

This week's topic: Books with [item] on the cover or Books with Swords on the Cover.

1. Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson

Sorcery-of-Thorns

Sorcery of Thorns was the first book I thought of for this week's prompt. I read it a few months ago and I am eternally obsessed. With magic libraries, sword-wielding librarians, a grumpy sorcerer, and a demon that turns into a cat how can I not be obsessed?

2. The Screaming Staircase by Jonathan Stroud

The-Screaming-Staircase

I love Lockwood and Co. It's one of my favorite middle-grade series. The Screaming Staircase is the first book, and when I read it, I fell in love with the paranormal investigators Anthony Lockwood, Lucy Carlyle, and George Cubbins. Lockwood looks so cool with his sword, so I just had to include this cover.

(Lockwood and Co. was the first book I mentioned on my 15 Must-read Middle-grade Books list. If you'd like to see it, I'll link it here)

3. Daughter of the Pirate King by Tricia Levenseller

Daughter-of-the-Pirate-King

I read Daughter of the Pirate King earlier this year, and although it wasn't a favorite, I still loved the swashbuckling pirate captain Alosa.

4. One True King by Soman Chainani

One-True-King

The School for Good and Evil is one of my favorite magic school series ever. One True King is the last book of 6 others in the series. I loved it so much when I first read it.

5. The Hawthorne Legacy by Jennifer Lynn Barnes

The-Hawthorne-Legacy

I read The Hawthorne Legacy last month and it was amazing! So much better in my opinion than The Inheritance Games. You can check out my review for both The Inheritance Games and The Hawthorne Legacy here if you like. I can't wait to get my hands on the next book in the series. Admittedly the sword doesn't play a major role in the story, but hey, it is on the cover.

6. Powerless by Lauren Roberts

Powerless

I haven't read Powerless yet, but I will very soon. It's sitting on my bookshelf, trying to catch my attention. I've heard great things about it, so I'm looking forward to reading it.

7. Percy Jackson and The Lightning Thief by Rick Riordan

I know it's a little difficult to tell, but that is definitely a sword Percy is holding in the cover. I read Percy Jackson in school and it was unforgettable. I first found out about it from my friend who was reading The Lightning Thief on the bus ride home.

8. Inkspell by Cornelia Funke

Inkspell

Inkspell is the second book in the Inkheart trilogy. I liked it when I read it though admittedly not as much as the first book. I should reread it some time though, I've forgotten most of what happens in it. I think the trilogy deserves more attention.

9. Dance of Thieves by Mary E. Pearson

Dance-of-Thieves

Dance of Thieves is on my TBR, but I don't know when I'll get to it. I'm eager to read it though, people seem to love it, and the cover was perfect for this week's prompt.

10. Once upon a broken heart by Stephanie Garber

Once-Upon-A-Broken-Heart

One of the books I'm desperate to read. I'm planning to read Caraval soon by the same author, but I've always wanted to read Once Upon a Broken Heart. I love this cover too, such a pretty pink!

Thank you for reading, I hope you liked this post. If you've liked it then follow my blog for more.

If you haven't read my review of A Tempest of Tea by Hafsah Faizal yet, you can do so here.

See you on Saturday for my review of The Day I Died by C.M. Francis.

I have read the first book in the Once Upon a Broken Heart and it was really good; I've heard nothing but good things about the rest of the series. 15. Fun! I had to read a book with a sword on its cover for a reading challenge prompt this year and I struggled to find one. I read very little fantasy, so swords just don't feature much in the books I read. You found some great looking ones!

    Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!
