Top Ten Tuesday - Destination Titles

Top-Ten-Tuesday-Destination-Titles

Welcome to another Top Ten Tuesday. Top Ten Tuesday is a bookish meme hosted by That Artsy Reader Girl since 2018. Its goal was to bring bookworms together. This week's topic is books with Destinations in their titles. These can be real destinations or fictional places. Surprisingly, a lot of the books that came to mind were classics, but I've managed to add other genres here. Most of these books I have read, but there may be one or two I'm still planning to read on the list.

This week's topic: Destination Titles

 1. Spacemice - The Underwater Planet by Elisabetta Dami

The-Underwater-Planet

Destination - The Underwater Planet

My brother got The Underwater Planet from his school fair years ago, so I decided to read it too and I really liked it.  It is a lovely adventurous action-packed story perfect for beginner readers.

2. The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett

The-Secret-Garden

Destination - The secret garden

My favorite classic ever. Everyone needs to read The Secret Garden to understand the joy of living. It made me want to grow my own garden too, but I have come to realize that gardening isn't for me. It's such a lovely tale of how laughter and friendship can make a bleak and hopeless life so much brighter and worth living.

3. The Wizard of Oz by Frank L. Baum

The-Wizard-of-Oz

Destination - Oz

I'll admit I had never read The Wizard of Oz until a few years ago, despite watching nearly every movie version and sequel. I think it's perfect for young readers, but I found it a little too slow-paced for my liking. The magic and whimsy is, however, something I'll never forget. I've heard there are more books set in Oz, but I haven't read them yet.

4. Nevermoor: The Trials of Morrigan Crow by Jessica Townsend

Nevermoor

Destination - Nevermoor

Nevermoor: The Trials of Morrigan Crow was very popular on BookTube when it first came out and as a die-hard magic school fan I immediately added it to my TBR. I've only read the first one till now, but I loved it. It's so full of whimsy and wonder, throw in a huge cat, and what more do you need?

5. The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

Destination - The Night Circus

The Night Circus has been lauded as a masterpiece by so many people that I was afraid it wouldn't live up to the hype, but it did so magnificently. A magical circus that only appears at night, a deadly competition, and a slow-burn rivals-to-lovers romance, what isn't there to love?

6. The Kamogawa Food Detectives by Hisashi Kashiwai

The-Kamogawa-Food-Detectives

Destination - Kamogawa Diner

The Kamogawa Food Detectives is the only book I haven't read on today's list. I've seen so many other bloggers mention it in previous Top Ten Tuesdays, so now I am obsessed with the cover and need to get my hands on it.

7. Secrets of Thorn Manor by Margaret Rogerson

Mysteries-Of-Thorn-Manor

Destination - Thorn Manor

Mysteries of Thorn Manor is a novella and a sequel to Sorcery of Thorns. I loved it, it was such a needed look into what the characters experienced after the events of the first book.

8. The Prison Healer by Lynette Noni

The-Prison-Healer

Destination - Zalindov Prison. The title doesn't name the prison, but I'm still counting it.

The Prison Healer is my new favorite fantasy trilogy. I read it early this year and I was obsessed with it. Everyone who loves fantasy with high stakes, dark themes, trials, and a sweet romance should pick it up. You won't regret it!

9. Treasure Island by Robert Lois Stevenson

Treasure-Island

Destination - Treasure Island

Treasure Island was a classic I was aware of but never thought I'd read. Then my brother was assigned this book for school a few years ago so I took the chance to try it out. I usually find classic adventure dull but I liked this one.

10. The Castle of Adventure by Enid Blyton

Destination - A castle

Enid Blyton was my introduction to reading as a whole and I used to read her books all the time. My aunt gave me The Castle of Adventure years ago and I liked it. It wasn't too different from how I felt about the other Enid Blyton mysteries, though The Famous Five was more to my taste than this one.

Thanks for reading! If you haven't read my review of The Day I Died by C.M. Francis yet, you can do so here.

  3. The Secret Garden and The Wizard of Oz are both great fits! I'm realizing now that I didn't have any organization with my list by featuring just real or fictional places. But oh well! As long as we have fun, right!? ;) Thanks for visiting my list!

  14. You know, I've loved The Wizard of Oz (the movie) since I was a wee child (I'm pretty sure I wanted to be Dorothy, and since I was also from Kansas and had a little black dog it was easy to see myself in her shoes). I've never read the books. I hope you have a wonderful week. - Katie
