Welcome back to another Top Ten Tuesday. Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly bookish meme hosted by that artsy reader girl since 2018. It was born of a love of lists and to bring bookworms together. We've reached the final Top Ten post of the year, and It's been fun getting to know wonderful book bloggers with way more experience than me. Thank you for always visiting my blog and leaving sweet comments, it means a lot to a new blogger like me.
A little off-topic, but my brother has a project coming up where he's trying to map out making a cooking/recipe app. For his primary research he's looking for participants to fill out a short survey which would take about 10 minutes. So, if anyone has used SuperCook, Yummly or SideChef before, I would be so grateful if you could fill in my brother's survey.
This week's topic is best books I read in 2024. I've read many amazing books this year, but the ten I've added to this list have been my favorite by far. Links in the titles take you to my review if I've written one for that book
This week's topic: The Best Books I Read in 2024
1. The Prison Healer by Lynette Noni
I can't believe I've just read this trilogy this year, and it's become one of my favorite fantasy series of all time. Honestly, if you haven't read it yet, I'd highly recommend it.
2. Sorcery Of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson
Sorcery of Thorns is another all-time favorite fantasy for me. With a grumpy sorcerer, sword-wielding librarians, and a demon that turns into a cat, what more can I say to convince you to read it?!
3. Half A Soul by Olivia Atwater
Half a Soul was an amazing cozy fantasy, and one of the first I'd ever read. If anyone's looking for a sweet and whimsical cozy fantasy, then this might be a new favorite for you.
4. The Hawthorne Legacy by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
5. The Day I Died by C.M. Francis
The Day I Died is an inspiring tale of overcoming life's challenges. It is a wonderful coming-of-age story about trauma, recovery, friendship and family. If you need a book that will uplift you, The Day I Died should be on your 2025 TBR.
6. We Free The Stars by Hafsah Faizal
We Free the Stars is the second book in The Sands of Arawiya duology, and if you love epic quests, magic powers, and found family, you will love this book.
7. A Far Wilder Magic by Allison Saft
A Far Wilder Magic is a spectacular combination of themes of love, family, ostracization, sacrifice, and the power of dreaming. If you love atmospheric and gritty reads, this book will leave you obsessed.
8. Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
A sweet homage to the power of family and sisterhood. I loved Little Women and having a sister of my own made it more emotional to me. If you haven't picked this book up yet, you should give it a shot. All of the relationships were wonderful in this book too, so if you love romance, you might like this classic.
9. Eva Evergreen-Semi Magical Witch by Julie Abe
A heartwarming tale of friendship, love, whimsy, magic, and the power of self-belief. If you love middle-grade fantasies you'll love this book. If you love the feel of Ghibli movies, especially Kiki's Delivery Service, then you must give Eva Evergreen Semi-Magical Witch a try!
10. Anne of Green Gables by L.M. Montgomery
Anne of Green Gables has become one of the favorite classics ever. Being a dreamer who spends nearly all her time imaging I was immediately drawn to Anne. This was just a sweet tale of friendship, adventure, found family, and imagination. I loved the atmosphere and the nature element in this book, you feel like you're standing with Anne and feeling the wind ruffle your hair.
Once again if you've used SuperCook, Yummly or SideChef before or if you know someone who has used one of these apps before please fill in the survey or share the link with others.

Half a Soul was super enjoyable and clearly a winner! Saving all of these to my TBR pronto. Wish you a very happy '25 ahead, full of very good books. ~Lex (lexlingua.co)
ReplyDeleteI love Anne and Eva! And I have had a Far Wilder Magic on my list - it sounds like I really need to get to it. I would love to read The Day I Died but I don't think I could handle it! My son actually is a brain bleed survivor, he had two at birth. I love that there is a book about this though, that touches people so deeply.
ReplyDeleteWe Free the Stars is AMAZING and I love that duology so much! 😍 I also adore Sorcery of Thorns and although I don't re-read often, I'm toying with the idea of re-reading it next year. I also hope to finally read Half A Soul and A Far Wilder Magic in 2025! I hope you continue discovering amazing reads in the year ahead :)
ReplyDeleteGreat list! I liked Anne of Green Gables when I was younger. I'd like to try The Prison Healer soon.

I want to try A Far Wilder Magic. Thanks for visiting my blog earlier. 🙂
ReplyDeleteWhat an interesting list! I’ve only read Little Women which I liked.
ReplyDeleteNice list of books. I haven't read any of them. Hope you have a great 2025!
ReplyDeleteGlad to see a diverse list of favorites — with classics, fantasies, mysteries, and more, you gifted 2024 some excitement! I’ve heard so many great things about The Prison Healer, so you may have convinced me to prioritize that read this year!
ReplyDeleteCannot wait to see what 2025 has to offer!!
A Far Wilder Magic is on my TBR. I hope 2025 is a successful reading year for you!
ReplyDeleteMany books do cat demons now and I am trying to figure out who was the first - the first I knew of was Mogget from The Old Kingdom! My favorite one too hahah I'm not sure there was probably an earlier one. Looks like a great list!
ReplyDeleteGreat list! I loved Half a Soul! Happy New Year! :D
ReplyDeleteThis is a wonderful list! I adored Half a Soul and Sorcery of Thorns, and I've had The Prison Healer on my TBR for ages. Here's to finding wonderful reads in 2025!
ReplyDeleteLots of fantasy books enjoyed. I did like Little Women and Anne of course. I will look up that cozy fantasy you mention.
ReplyDeleteI totally agree on The prison Healer!

Half a Soul has been on my TBR since someone compared it to Sorcery & Cecelia by Patricia C. Wrede. I've been loving cozy fantasy books lately so maybe this will be the year I finally get to it! I listened to Eva Evergreen last year and it was so much fun! I need to read the second book in the series. Happy 2025!
ReplyDeleteSomeday I need to read classics like Little Women or 'Anne.' Both are stories I adore as films, so I'm sure the books would be the same! Also... I still have to read that series by Jennifer Lynn Barnes! It sounds cool. :) Thanks so much for visiting my list on this week.
ReplyDeleteA week late but wanted to come by and let you know how much I enjoyed reading this list. Little Women & Anne are two of my childhood favorites; I'm glad you loved them too! I also really like the Inheritance Games trilogy.
ReplyDeleteFinally: I'm excited to try Half a Soul. I kept confusing the author with Olivie Blake, and The Atlas Six was a quick DNF for me, but this sounds much more my speed and your rec has only bolstered that feeling.
I honestly think it is only at this moment that I finally realized Sorcery of Thorns is its own thing and not a book in the Court of Thorns and Roses series... it's so similar to the original covers!
Welcome to The Booklore Fairy! I'd love to hear from you.
